Hi! 

I’m Dee. I worked as a copywriter, lifestyle and travel writer for some twenty years until AI came along and upended the industry. I’d just moved to a remote little cottage in West Cavan where I’d been planning to work from home, and suddenly I was without a job, without prospects, and without a clue what I’d do next. 

With a lot of time on my hands, I threw myself into our gorgeous little cottage.  I had decorated and furnished it with a lot of beautiful auction finds. One of those finds was a beautiful porcelain hand-painted lamp base, without a shade. 

I searched and searched, and after a year of searching, I realised that the shade it needed existed in my mind and nowhere else on earth. I was going to have to just try and make it myself.

An obsession was born. Years of designing and sewing outfits for raves and festivals flooded back to me, and the joy of creativity ignited something in me that had been snuffed out for a long time. After making one, I realised I didn’t want to stop making them. I realised I never wanted to do anything else for the rest of my life! 

Lighting is everything. Lampshdes are a thing we have IKEAfied a little too much, if you ask me, when what we should treat them as is little works of art that bring us joy in the daylight, and bring us to another world at night. They set the vibe, and the vibe matters.

I create high-end, one-of-a-kind and limited collection lampshades made with silks, chiffons, satins, velvets and lace. 

 Everything I create is designed to infuse a little shmooze throughout your favourite spaces, to make the big light beautiful again, and to look just as gorgeous with the lights off during the day as they do at night when lit up.
