Some pieces begin with a moment of connection. This one began with a comment on a coat. 

Lyra is named in honour of Queen Lyra of the Rebel County — Co. Cork's own legend and style icon. I commented on a post she made, and she followed my page back when I had just started out, which was incredibly validating for a newbie! Her warmth and generosity of spirit, at a moment when it was needed most, quietly fuelled me to keep going and believe in my own magic. This shade is a memory of that. 

The larger panels are worked in a double layer of hand-dyed ombré dupion silk, graduating from a warm taupe through to a deep blush pink, then overlaid with a glitzy gold embroidered tulle that catches the light beautifully whether the lamp is on or off. The smaller panels are a double layer of taupe silk, overlaid with hand-pleated rosette panels of silk chiffon — each flower dip-dyed so that the blooms are a rich pink that fades gradually to a warm chocolate brown. The fringe is dip-dyed to match, and the braided trim finished in the same warm brown, tying the whole piece together with quiet precision.

The lamp base is a vintage piece found at auction — solid, characterful, and entirely one of a kind. If you would like to purchase the base along with the shade, please get in touch via email or through the site before ordering so we can discuss delivery, as it is a considerably weighty piece.

This is a one-of-a-kind shade and there will never be another one exactly like it. Bulb: A cool LED bulb is essential — halogen bulbs generate heat that may damage the delicate silk and fabrics. A warmly toned bulb will create a more orange glow - use a cool bulb (or a smart bulb that you can alter!) to stay faithful to the lamps colors, although this is a matter of personal taste! 

Care: Dust gently with a soft dry cloth. Keep away from direct moisture.
