I found this heavy old Molly Malone lamp in an auction a while back and I wanted to make a shade that suited it (or her). Whoever created this lamp didn't give Molly the bawdy wench treatment like the one in Dublin city centre; not an inch of bewb in sight!
So since she's all business there with her wheelbarrow, I tarted the shade up a little instead, with some brightly dyed pink dupion silks, a gorgeous shimmering sequinned lace, a dip-dyed fringe and some lovely leopard print chiffon I found. I made some little clusters of pink and black beaded strings too.
Each panel is created using three layers of silk/lace/chiffon, carefully hand stretched and stitched over the frame.
The shade and lamp are for sale together, but will have to be delivered in person as the lamp base is too heavy for me to post. DM to discuss 🩷🖤🐆
